“Buzz, buzz, buzz goes the bumblebee”…. One of the hardest working insects to be found in your yard is the bee. But these poor guys often get a very negative welcome – mainly because people think they will just get stung by them. Bees are not bullies. Bees are as likely to sting as dogs are to bite. There are different types of bees. The peace loving bees, such as the mason bees and the honey bees are usually found buzzing around the flowering plants in the garden. The troublemakers or more aggressive ones – the hornets, yellow jackets, and wasps will usually be found hanging around stuff less desirable to us, such as garbage or rotting wood.
The more bees visiting your pretty flowers, the more pollinating is being done. So don’t be too hasty to pass judgment on these busy little guys; they are largely responsible for all of that beauty in your flower garden. As a matter of fact, you might even want to encourage them to stick around!
